The Snowball Analytics alternative that can’t read your portfolio
Dividends net of withholding tax, MWR and TWR on every plan, and your spending beside the portfolio. Your portfolio and wallet data is encrypted on your device before it syncs, and stored as ciphertext we cannot open.

What the difference looks like
Spending sits next to the portfolio
Received and declared, kept apart

Switching from Snowball Analytics
- Step 1
Save your Recovery Key
Save the Recovery Key when you create the workspace: we cannot read your data, so we also cannot reset a forgotten password, and the Recovery Key is the way back in. - Step 2
Import your broker statements
A statement from the broker is the record everything else was derived from, and it is where Turbobulls has dedicated adapters: Interactive Brokers activity statements, Trading 212, DEGIRO, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Delta, eToro, Saxo, Tastytrade, Trade Republic, Avanza, Montrose, XTB, TradeVille, Investimental and Revolut, with ING Romania, Raiffeisen Romania, Salt Bank and Revolut's bank statements on the bank side. Any other broker goes through the generic CSV mapper, where you match the columns once. Snowball exports holdings and transactions to CSV on every tier, free included, per its pricing page, and that file takes the same route. - Step 3
Check each import against the statement
Then import one broker at a time and check the holdings against the statement before the next. The preview marks duplicates before anything is written, and the commit is atomic, so a bad file never leaves you half-imported.
Plan for the part that changes. In Snowball, a broker linked on a paid tier syncs holdings and transactions nightly on its own. Here they arrive by file, because a sync service would have to read what it fetches and our server cannot. For most portfolios that is one statement a month or a quarter. Export from Turbobulls is on every plan, free included, so nothing you bring in is trapped.
Which one fits you?
Three questions. We will say so when the answer is Snowball.
Answer the three questions and a recommendation appears here.
- End-to-end
Encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it syncs. Your financial data reaches us as ciphertext.
- File imports
CSV and XLSX for IBKR, Trading 212, DEGIRO, eToro and many more, with more on the way, plus a generic mapper for any other file.
- Free plan
Permanent, no card, nothing deleted when the trial ends.
- €3.99
Investing Pro x per month billed yearly, or €4.79 monthly. The investing side in full, with the spending side left exactly as it is on the free plan. Turbo Pro at €6.66/mo opens both sides. A free plan sits underneath: no card, no time limit.
Side by side
| Capability | Turbobulls | Snowball Analytics |
|---|---|---|
| Where they differ | ||
| Encryption | On-device AES-256-GCM, key derived from your password. Your portfolio and wallet data is stored as ciphertext. | Not end-to-end encrypted, in its own words. Its security page describes depersonalised storage and encryption in transit; its pricing FAQ adds encryption at rest. A ‘Hide all values’ button hides amounts on screen. |
| Getting data in | File import and manual entry. No broker connections by design, since a sync service would have to read your positions. | Broker connections through Yodlee and SnapTrade on paid tiers, covering 1,000+ brokers (one account on Starter, ten on Investor). Broker-report and CSV import on every tier. |
| Expenses and budgeting | Spending, categories, savings rate, salary and net worth beside the portfolio, plus envelope budgeting. | Cash accounts on every tier, and bank or savings accounts beside brokerage accounts. No budgeting, household spending or salary tracking. |
| Dividends | Income by month with a calendar, declared but unpaid included, withholding tax per payment. Full calendar, yields and the payments expected over the next 12 months on paid; free keeps the last three months. | A focus of its marketing: a dividend calendar with forecasts and custom withholding tax on every tier, and a dividend rating on its paid tiers. |
| Rebalancing and backtesting | Rebalancing with new money, on every plan: set a target per holding, enter what you are investing this month, and it splits the amount across the holdings below their targets. It never suggests a sale. No backtesting or scenario modelling. | Markets both. Rebalancing is purchases-only on free and full on paid. Backtesting is on every tier: 10 years on Free and Starter, 30+ years on Investor and Expert. |
| Risk analytics | Sharpe ratio, maximum drawdown and return volatility, on a paid plan. | Lists ‘Metrics (PE, Beta, Sharpe ratio)’ on every tier, per its pricing page. |
| Mobile | An installable web app (PWA) on iOS, Android and desktop, which works offline. | Distributes native iOS and Android apps, on the App Store and Google Play. |
| Holdings limit | 10 holdings on free, no limit on paid. | 10 on the free tier, the same as ours, and unlimited on the paid tiers. |
| Pricing | Turbo Pro at €6.66/mo billed yearly, or €7.99/mo, lifts every cap and opens every section. Investing Pro is €3.99/mo billed yearly for the investing side alone. A permanent free plan underneath. | Free forever, then Starter €7.99 a month or €79.99 a year, Investor €14.99 or €149.99, Expert €24.99 or €249.99, in euros to EU visitors. Annual billing is advertised as two months free. |
| Where they agree | ||
| Portfolio basics | Multi-currency, multi-broker, multi-account, with benchmarking and performance analytics. | The same ground: assets in 30+ currencies from 70+ exchanges, benchmarking, and performance analytics that include fees. |
| Not a trading tool | No real-time feeds, no technical analysis, no execution. Tracking and analytics only. | The same. Its Yodlee broker link is read-only, per its security page. |
The Turbobulls column describes Turbo Pro, the plan that covers both sides. Investing Pro covers the investing rows on their own and leaves the spending side at free-plan depth. The free plan is capped and keeps a working slice of each paid section. Everything in the Snowball column comes from its own pages, read in September 2026, and every negative rests on what those pages say; they are listed in the footer. Snowball Analytics may have changed since this was compiled. Its own pricing and documentation pages are the authoritative source.
14 days of everything, no card. If you never pay, you keep a free plan that never expires, and nothing is deleted.
The long version
Two different approaches to portfolio tracking
Snowball Analytics is a portfolio tracker that publicly markets dividend-oriented tooling. Per its public materials it tracks assets in 30+ currencies from 70+ exchanges, offers automatic broker connections on its paid tiers, includes a dividend calendar with forecasts and a dividend rating, and provides rebalancing and backtesting. It has a community section with public portfolios, and since August 2026 an AI assistant that answers questions about your portfolio, per its changelog. It distributes native iOS and Android apps.
Turbobulls is a privacy-first financial tracker built on end-to-end encryption. Data is encrypted on your device before it reaches the server, so the platform is designed not to be able to read your holdings, transactions or performance. Beyond investments it tracks your wallet, bank accounts, salary, expenses and income, showing how the whole picture moves over time. Every account opens with 14 days of everything, no card, and then lands on a free plan that never expires.
Both handle multi-currency portfolios, benchmarking and performance analytics, and neither is a trading tool. Where they diverge is scope, privacy architecture and specialised tooling, and that is what the rest of this page is about.
How each platform handles your data
TurbobullsThis is where the two differ most fundamentally. Turbobulls encrypts holdings, transactions and performance data on your device before they are sent, with AES-256-GCM under a key derived from your password using PBKDF2. The platform is designed so that not even Turbobulls can read your financial information.
SnowballSnowball Analytics says outright, on its own security page, that its data is not end-to-end encrypted, ‘because it will not allow us to deliver several fundamental features of the service’. The same page describes stored data as ‘depersonalized’, meaning not connected to you personally, and encrypted in transit (HTTPS); its pricing FAQ adds that data is encrypted at rest. It offers a ‘Hide all values’ button that hides amounts on screen, useful for looking at your portfolio in public but a display setting rather than an encryption architecture. Broker connections run through Yodlee and SnapTrade: its security page says broker credentials go to the aggregator straight from your browser, that its own servers never see them, and that Yodlee gives it a read-only interface; its help centre says holdings and transactions sync nightly. When its AI assistant is used, relevant portfolio data and your prompt go to OpenRouter with personal data and account identifiers removed first, per its privacy policy. The same policy says personal data is stored inside the European Union, and that in some cases, mainly for technical reasons, data may be stored on servers outside it.
TurbobullsOn analytics, Turbobulls records explicit events only within the app: no autocapture, no session recording, no advertising trackers, and nothing sold. See exactly how the encryption works, including what we can still see.
- AES-256-GCM on device encryption, PBKDF2 key derivation
- Per-workspace keys, recovery key available
- No broker connections anywhere in the path
- Export on every plan, never paywalled
- Not end-to-end encrypted, per its security page
- A ‘Hide all values’ button hides amounts on screen
- Broker sync through Yodlee and SnapTrade on paid tiers, nightly; its security page calls the Yodlee interface read-only
- Data ‘depersonalized’, encrypted in transit and at rest, stored in the EU with some data possibly outside it for technical reasons
Dividend tracking, where Snowball is positioned
Dividend tracking is a focus of Snowball’s public marketing. According to its own materials it offers a dividend calendar showing upcoming payment dates, a Future Payments schedule of announced and projected payments for the year ahead, and a dividend rating on its paid tiers that scores companies on a 0 to 100 scale for financial stability and the likelihood of a dividend cut, from 13 fundamental criteria. For someone building a passive-income portfolio, that can be a meaningful part of the value.
Turbobulls also tracks dividends. It imports payments for supported instruments and presents income by month in a calendar, including payments declared but not yet paid, which are kept out of your totals until they land. Withholding tax is recorded per payment, so the figure shown is net and in your base currency, and splits are applied retroactively. The full calendar and the yield figures need a paid plan; the free plan keeps the last three months. Trailing twelve-month and indicated annual income are included, with yield on cost and current yield on paid. A paid plan also shows the payments expected over the next 12 months, estimated from the last dividend and rhythm of each holding at what you hold now.
Turbobulls is not positioned around the same dividend-specific feature set. It has no rating system, and its expected payments need a paid plan where Snowball shows projected ones on every tier. If your decision rests primarily on dividend tooling, Snowball is positioned to offer more of it. Where Turbobulls differs is context: dividend income sits alongside salary, side income and personal expenses, so you can see whether passive income is growing relative to what you actually spend.
Expenses, budgeting and net worth
This is the widest difference in scope. Turbobulls tracks spending with categories and tags, cash accounts, debt, salary and savings rate alongside the portfolio, and reports net worth across all of it, with a financial independence projection on top. Budgeting is envelope-based: each month you assign the money you actually have to categories and watch what is left, unspent money rolls over, and overspending comes out of next month’s pool, so the budget stays tied to real cash.
Snowball Analytics, per its public materials, keeps cash accounts inside the portfolio on every tier, and its own comparison page says you can add and track bank and savings accounts beside your brokerage accounts. Fees and taxes are recorded as portfolio transactions, and its performance calculation includes fees, which is genuinely useful for seeing the drag commissions create. It does not do budgeting, household spending or salary tracking: its pricing page sets out the feature set tier by tier and none of the three appears. If you want day-to-day spending alongside your portfolio, you would likely run a separate app next to Snowball.
For anyone who wants only the investing side, that breadth is capability they will not use, and it is worth knowing before signing up. It is not capability you have to pay for, though: Investing Pro buys the investing side on its own and leaves the spending side exactly as it is on the free plan. On the free plan budgeting is read-only, and the caps include one workspace, three accounts, ten holdings, two brokers, 50 portfolio transactions, 120 wallet transactions and one benchmark.
Analytics and tools
Snowball Analytics markets a broad set of analytical tools. Its pricing page lists the Sharpe ratio, beta and PE among its metrics on every tier, diversification by sector, asset class and region, and IRR. Its rebalancing tool is purchases-only on free and full on paid. Backtesting tests portfolio ideas on historical data: 10 years on Free and Starter, 30+ years on Investor and Expert.
Turbobulls offers benchmarking against any ETF, stock or basket you add, with one benchmark on free and no limit on paid, alongside return on investment, money-weighted return and time-weighted return on every plan. Historical snapshots let you view the portfolio as it stood on any date, rebuilt from your own transactions. Behind those headline numbers sits the Overview’s All figures card: its growth and return figures, wealth velocity, growth rate (CAGR) and time-weighted return among them, are on every plan. Paying for the investing side opens the risk and efficiency figures, among them the Sharpe ratio, maximum drawdown, return volatility, multiple on invested capital (MOIC), momentum, and fees and taxes.
Allocation by asset type, broker, currency and tag is available on every plan; sector, industry, country and region are paid. Holdings are classified by instrument, so a fund is counted where the fund itself is domiciled rather than distributed across what it holds. A target can be set on each holding, and when you enter what you are investing this month, Turbobulls splits the amount across the holdings below their targets. It plans purchases only, where Snowball’s paid tiers rebalance in full. Where Turbobulls is plainly less deep is the forward-looking side: it offers no backtesting or scenario modelling, which Snowball markets.
Getting your data in
This is the clearest practical trade between the two. Snowball markets automatic broker connections through Yodlee and SnapTrade on its paid tiers; Turbobulls has none, and that is a deliberate choice rather than something pending. Sync means a server somewhere holds working broker credentials and the platform reads the positions that come back. In Snowball’s case its security page says your broker credentials go straight from your browser to Yodlee and its own servers never see them; the holdings and transactions still sync nightly onto servers it says are not end-to-end encrypted. Turbobulls took the other side of that trade, and file import is the cost of it. It is a real cost and worth weighing.
Turbobulls ships CSV and XLSX adapters, among them Interactive Brokers activity statements, Trading 212, DEGIRO, eToro, Revolut, ING Romania and many more, with more on the way, plus generic CSV with manual mapping. You pick the broker and upload the file, and if the file does not match the adapter you picked, the app points you at the one it does match. The import preview flags duplicates before anything is written, and the commit is atomic: an import either lands in full or not at all. CSV and Excel export are available on every plan.
Anyone migrating from Snowball Analytics can export holdings and transactions to CSV, which its pricing page lists on every tier including free, and map the file through the generic CSV adapter. The same route covers any broker without a dedicated adapter.
Where each one is weaker
- No automatic broker connections, by design
- Rebalancing plans buys only, never sales
- No backtesting or scenario modelling
- No dividend rating system, and expected dividends only on a paid plan
- No public portfolios or AI assistant, because the server cannot read your holdings
- An installable web app rather than a native one
- The free plan is genuinely capped: 10 holdings, 3 accounts, 2 brokers
- Our free plan keeps three months of the dividend calendar; Snowball’s is on all four of its tiers
- No budgeting, household spending or salary tracking; cash accounts sit inside the portfolio, and its own comparison page says bank and savings accounts can be tracked
- Not end-to-end encrypted, by its own security page’s account; data ‘depersonalized’ and encrypted in transit and at rest
- Broker sync lands your holdings and transactions on its servers nightly, and linking is on the paid tiers only

Which currency you see
Snowball prices in the currency of wherever you open the page. Rendered in a browser it showed euros and its own footnote, “All prices are in EUR”; the same page fetched from a US address showed the identical numerals with a dollar sign and “All prices are in USD”. Both readings were taken in September 2026, which is why the numbers above carry no symbol. From Europe, read them as euros.
Yearly against monthly
The page advertises annual billing as “16% OFF which is 2 months for free”. Starter is 7.99 a month billed monthly, or 79.99 a year, which the page itself shows as 6.7 a month. Investor works out at 12.5 and Expert at 20.8 the same way. Payment is handled by Stripe, by card.
The trial, and what follows it
Each paid plan carries “14-days free trial, no CC”, and its FAQ says the trial gives full access except that you can add only 2 portfolios. Afterwards: “You will be automatically switched to Free plan. If you exceed limits of the free plan, you will be asked to upgrade or remove portfolios/holdings. We NEVER remove your data without your permission.” Cancelling stops the renewal and the paid term runs out.
Beside ours, fairly
Turbobulls starts at €3.99 a month billed yearly for Investing Pro x, against Snowball’s 7.99 a month or 79.99 a year for Starter. Two things worth saying plainly, because they cut against us: Snowball’s free tier caps holdings at ten, exactly as ours does, and its dividend calendar is not paywalled at all, while our free plan keeps only the last three months of it. Where our free plan goes further is scope, since it carries spending, salary and net worth beside the portfolio, and both of us put export on the free tier: Snowball’s CSV of holdings and transactions, ours in CSV and Excel.
What it costs
Or €4.79 a month billed monthly. Annual billing is two months free. Cancel anytime. A free plan sits underneath it with no card and no time limit.
- The investing side in full: unlimited holdings, trades, brokers, benchmarks and watchlist, the whole dividend calendar with yields, and the risk and efficiency figures. The spending side stays exactly as it is on the free plan
- Turbo Pro at €6.66 a month billed yearly, or €7.99 monthly, opens both sides and lifts every cap
- Or Spending Pro at €2.99 a month billed yearly for the spending side alone, which leaves the investing side at free-plan depth
- Encryption and export on every plan, free included
- Card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay via Stripe
No card, and nothing to cancel if you stay on free.
Euros to a European reader: its pricing page prices by where you open it, and shows the same numerals in US dollars from the United States. Read September 2026. The full plan table is above. Plan inclusions and prices are set by Snowball and can change.
- A free tier at 0 forever, capped at 10 holdings and 1 portfolio, with broker-report import but no broker link
- Starter 79.99, Investor 149.99, Expert 249.99 a year, in euros or US dollars depending on where you open the page; monthly billing is also offered, and annual billing is advertised as 16% off, two months free
- Unlimited holdings and broker linking on all three paid tiers
- Backtesting on every tier: 10 years on Free and Starter, 30+ years on Investor and Expert
- The dividend calendar and CSV export are on all four tiers; the dividend rating is on the paid ones
Snowball includes features Turbobulls does not offer, among them backtesting and a dividend rating, so the value comparison depends on which of them you would actually use.
