The short answer

Turbobulls if you want investments, spending, salary and net worth in one end-to-end encrypted place, on top of a free plan that never expires, paying for the side you actually use.

Sharesight if you want automatic imports from the 200+ brokers it lists, or the tax reports it markets for Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom, with a capital gains tax report for Australian and Canadian portfolios.

On price: Turbobulls from €3.99 a month billed yearly, or free. Sharesight Starter $7 a month billed yearly on its US site, or free. Checked September 2026.

What actually leaves your device

This runs in your browser before anything is sent. What reaches our database is ciphertext, not your figures.
Scope

Spending and budgeting sit next to the portfolio

Income, expenses, savings rate and real cash flow, in the same encrypted workspace as the holdings, with envelope budgeting on top. This is the widest gap between the two products: personal expense tracking and budgeting are not described in Sharesight's public materials as of September 2026.

Switching from Sharesight

Start from your brokers rather than from Sharesight.
  1. Step 1

    Save your Recovery Key

Save the Recovery Key when you create the workspace: we cannot read your data, so we also cannot reset a forgotten password, and the Recovery Key is the way back in.
  2. Step 2

    Get your broker statements

A statement from the broker is the record everything else was derived from, and it is where Turbobulls has dedicated adapters: Interactive Brokers activity statements, Trading 212, DEGIRO, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Delta, eToro, Saxo, Tastytrade, Trade Republic, Avanza, Montrose, XTB, TradeVille, Investimental and Revolut, with ING Romania, Raiffeisen Romania, Salt Bank and Revolut's bank statements on the bank side. Any other broker goes through the generic CSV mapper, where you match the columns once. Sharesight's All Trades report exports to a spreadsheet on every plan, free included, per its help centre and pricing page, and that file takes the same route.
  3. Step 3

    Import and check each broker

Then import one broker at a time and check the holdings against the statement before the next. The preview marks duplicates before anything is written, and the commit is atomic, so a bad file never leaves you half-imported.

Plan for the part that changes. Sharesight markets broker sync and trade confirmations forwarded by email, so trades arrived on their own. Here they arrive by file, because a sync service would have to read what it fetches and our server cannot. For most portfolios that is one statement a month or a quarter. Export from Turbobulls is on every plan, free included, so nothing you bring in is trapped.

Which one fits you?

Three questions. We will say so when the answer is Sharesight.

1 · What do you want to track?
2 · How should transactions get in?
3 · What do you need at tax time?

Answer the three questions and a recommendation appears here.

  • End-to-end

Encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it syncs. Your financial data reaches us as ciphertext.

  • File imports

CSV and XLSX for IBKR, Trading 212, DEGIRO, eToro and many more, with more on the way, plus a generic mapper for any other file.

  • Free plan

Permanent, no card, nothing deleted when the trial ends.

  • €3.99

Investing Pro x per month billed yearly, the entry price for the investing side. Free stays free, no card and no time limit, and Turbo Pro at €6.66/mo opens both sides.

Turbobulls and Sharesight compared, capability by capability
CapabilityTurbobullsSharesight
Where they differ
EncryptionOn-device AES-256 end-to-end encryption, key derived from your password. Your portfolio and wallet data is stored as ciphertext, which the service cannot read.A server-side model: TLS in transit, encryption at rest, optional two-factor authentication, and SOC 2 Type 2 certification. End-to-end encryption is not described.
Getting data inManual entry and file import: CSV and XLSX adapters for named brokers and banks, plus a generic CSV mapper.Automatic imports from 200+ brokers, trade confirmations forwarded by email, spreadsheet import, and a beta AI importer for PDFs and screenshots.
Beyond investmentsWallet, bank accounts, salary, personal expenses and income sources, with net worth reported across all of it.An investment tracker. Cash accounts track a bank or savings balance beside the portfolio, on paid plans. Salary and income sources are not described.
Expenses and budgetingEnvelope budgeting: each month you assign the money you have to categories and watch what is left. Unspent money rolls over; overspending comes out of next month's pool, so the budget reflects real cash. Not described.
TaxRealized gains and cost basis per lot, with the capital and currency gain split on a plan that covers the investing side, and Excel and CSV export on every plan. No jurisdiction-specific reports.Tax reports on paid plans. Its capital gains tax report covers Australian and Canadian portfolios, with sale allocation methods and the CGT discount for eligible parcels in Australia. Its UK help centre says it does not currently offer one for UK portfolios.
HoldingsTen on free, unlimited on any plan that covers the investing side.10 on free and 30 on Starter (closed positions count), unlimited on Standard and Premium.
PricingA free plan after a 14-day trial, then Turbo Pro at €7.99 a month or €79.90 a year, which lifts every cap and opens both sides. Spending Pro at €3.54 a month covers the spending side and Investing Pro at €4.79 a month covers the investing side; whichever one you do not buy stays exactly at free-plan depth.Free, then Starter $7 a month billed yearly ($9.33 monthly), Standard $18 ($24) and Premium $23.25 ($31) on its US site. Prices and tier names vary by regional site; a business plan is priced per portfolio.
MobileA Progressive Web App that installs on iOS, Android and desktop.Native iOS and Android apps as a read-only companion; trades are added on the web.
Where they agree
What it isA purpose-built portfolio tracker: real transactions with dates, prices, quantities and fees. The same. Stocks, ETFs and funds in 60+ markets, plus crypto.
Dividends and splitsDividends imported for supported instruments, with splits applied retroactively.Tracks dividends and corporate actions, including dividend reinvestment plans.
BenchmarkingOne benchmark on free, no limit once the investing side is paid for.Not on the free plan; on its higher tiers.
Not a trading toolNo real-time market data feeds, technical analysis or trade execution. The same. Neither product is built for market timing.

The Turbobulls column describes Turbo Pro, the plan that covers both sides; the free plan is capped and keeps a working slice of each paid section. Everything in the Sharesight column comes from its own pages, read in September 2026, and every negative rests on what those pages say; they are listed in the footer. Sharesight may have changed since.

The long version

Everything behind the table, one topic at a time.

Two different approaches to tracking your money

Sharesight is a portfolio tracker founded in New Zealand. Per its features page it covers stocks, ETFs and funds in 60+ markets, plus crypto, and imports trades automatically from 200+ brokers. It markets tax reports for Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom, with a capital gains tax report for Australian and Canadian portfolios per its help centre, and describes a server-side security model: TLS in transit, encryption at rest, SOC 2 Type 2 certification and optional two-factor authentication.

Turbobulls is a privacy-first financial tracker that uses end-to-end encryption. Data is encrypted on the device before it reaches the server, and the platform is designed so that it cannot access holdings, transactions or performance data. Beyond investments it tracks the wallet, bank accounts, salary, expenses and every income source, showing how the overall financial picture evolves over time. Every account opens with 14 days of everything and then lands on a free plan that never expires.

Both are purpose-built portfolio trackers that record real transactions with dates, prices, quantities and fees, and both handle dividend tracking, stock splits, multi-currency portfolios, benchmarking and performance analytics. Where they differ most is scope, privacy architecture and tax reporting depth.

Who each one is for

The chooser above gives one answer. This is the whole list behind it.
Turbobulls may be the better fit if you
  • Want investments, expenses, salary and income in one place
  • Want envelope budgeting in the same encrypted workspace as the portfolio
  • Consider financial privacy important
  • Want the holdings cap gone with the investing side, rather than raised a step at a time by tier
  • Would rather pay for one side of it, spending or investing, and leave the other exactly at free-plan depth
Sharesight may be the better fit if you
  • Need tax reports built for Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom, including a capital gains tax report for Australian or Canadian portfolios
  • Want automatic imports from the 200+ brokers it lists
  • Track property, precious metals or diverse listed assets
  • Need to share portfolios with an accountant
  • Want contribution analysis or multi-period reporting

Where each platform is less strong

Neither product is a trading tool. Neither provides real-time market data feeds, technical analysis or trade execution.
Turbobulls limitations
  • No automatic broker integrations
  • No jurisdiction-specific tax reports
  • No franking credits support
  • No portfolio sharing
  • Progressive Web App only, with no native app
Sharesight, things it does not publicly describe
  • Personal expense tracking, though it does describe cash accounts for bank balances
  • Budgeting
  • End-to-end encryption; its security page describes TLS in transit and encryption at rest instead

What it costs

Both products have more than one paid plan. Sharesight stacks its tiers, raising the holding caps and the tax-report inclusions as you go up; ours split by side, so you pay for spending, investing, or both. Inclusions and prices on the Sharesight side are set by Sharesight and can change, so its official pricing page is the authority on current rates.
Turbobulls
€3.99/mo billed yearly

Investing Pro x, the entry price for the investing side, or €4.79 monthly: unlimited holdings, trades, brokers, benchmarks and watchlist, the whole dividend calendar, and the risk and efficiency figures free holds back. Every future update included. Under it sits a permanent free plan, no card and no time limit, and Turbo Pro at €6.66/mo opens both sides.

  • 14 days of everything, no card required
  • Then a free plan with no time limit and nothing deleted
  • Spending Pro at €3.54 a month covers the spending side and Investing Pro at €4.79 a month covers the investing side; whichever one you do not buy stays exactly at free-plan depth.
  • Free caps how much one account holds: 1 workspace, 3 accounts, 10 holdings, 2 brokers, 50 portfolio transactions, 120 wallet transactions, 10 tags, 10 categories, 1 benchmark and 10 watchlist entries
  • Free keeps paid sections to a working slice: budgeting turns read-only, the dividend calendar keeps the last three months, and the All figures card keeps growth and returns
  • End-to-end encryption and export on every plan, free included
Sharesight
$7

A month for Starter billed yearly on its US site, or $9.33 monthly. A free plan with three paid tiers above it, and a separate business plan for accountants and advisors. • Starter at $7 USD per month billed annually or $9.33 USD monthly; Standard at $18 USD or $24 USD; Premium at $23.25 USD or $31 USD
  • Free holds 10 holdings and Starter 30, closed positions included; Standard and Premium are unlimited
