The short answer

Turbobulls if you hold investments and want them tracked beside your spending, in an account no server can read.

Spendee for tracking spending: it connects to your bank, costs a fraction of what we do, and its free plan gives you a budget you can set up, where ours is read-only.

On price: Turbobulls from €2.99 a month billed yearly, or free. Spendee Plus $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year, or the free Basic plan. Checked September 2026.

Budgeting

Envelopes, including the month they go wrong

Money assigned per category, with what is left tracked per envelope. When one runs over, the overspending comes out of next month’s pool. Spendee budgets by category too, with a daily limit; the difference is what sits beside the budget rather than the budget itself.

Scope

The part Spendee is not built for

Income, expenses, savings rate and cash flow, reported against holdings as one net worth with a financial independence projection on top. Spendee’s product pages and help centre describe no portfolio tracking or net worth across holdings, as checked in September 2026, and this is the whole reason a Spendee user would move.

What our database actually holds

Spendee’s security page describes encrypted channels and encrypted storage on its servers, with access limited to authorized users. What it does not describe is end-to-end encryption, and that is the difference the two tabs show. The action and the timestamp sit in the clear, and the part that would tell you anything is ciphertext. That is also why we cannot connect to your bank.

Switching from Spendee

Spendee lists export on every tier, so start there: export your transactions as CSV from its mobile app and bring them in through the generic CSV adapter, mapping the columns yourself.
  1. Step 1

    Export your history from Spendee

Per its help centre, free-plan export covers the last 365 days and Plus or Premium has no date limit, so a longer history needs a paid month before you leave.
  2. Step 2

    Set up your categories first

Set your categories up before the first import rather than after. Both products budget by category, so the structure carries over conceptually even though the file will not carry it for you.
  3. Step 3

    Import the CSV into Turbobulls

The import preview marks duplicates before anything is written and the commit is atomic, so a bad file does not leave you half-imported.

Plan for the part that will actually change: spending stops arriving on its own. If your bank is ING Romania, Raiffeisen Romania, Salt Bank or Revolut personal there is a dedicated adapter, and otherwise it is a monthly CSV export. That is a real habit to take on, and it is worth being sure the investing side is worth it to you before you do. Excel export from Turbobulls is on every plan, so nothing you put in is trapped either way.

Which one fits you?

Three questions, and on this page the answer is Spendee more often than not.

1 · What are you tracking?
2 · How should spending get in?
3 · What decides it on price?

Answer the three questions and a recommendation appears here.

  • End-to-end

Encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it syncs. Your financial data reaches us as ciphertext.

  • Both sides

Envelope budgeting and a full portfolio in one account, reported as one net worth.

  • Free plan

Permanent, no card, nothing deleted. Capped, and smaller than Spendee’s on budgeting.

  • €2.99

Spending Pro x per month billed yearly, for the spending side on its own. Turbo Pro at €6.66/mo opens both sides, and the free plan below it needs no card and never expires.

Where they differ
Getting spending inFile import and manual entry. Adapters for ING Romania, Raiffeisen Romania, Salt Bank and Revolut personal, plus a generic CSV mapper. No bank connections at all.Connects to 2,500+ financial providers, plus e-wallets and crypto wallets, through its own integrations or Salt Edge and Plaid. Its pricing page lists bank sync under Basic; its help centre calls it a paid feature.
InvestmentsA full portfolio tracker: holdings, cost basis, dividends, benchmarks and the growth, return and risk figures, in the same account as the budget. Not described on its product pages or help centre; a 2022 campaign page describes tracking NFT wallets.
EncryptionOn-device AES-256-GCM, key derived from your password. Your portfolio and wallet data is stored as ciphertext. Not end-to-end encrypted. Encrypted channels and encrypted storage on its own servers, where its authorised users can reach your data, per its security page.
SharingNot offered. Your workspaces are yours alone, with no shared wallet for a couple or a household.Shared wallets on Plus and Premium, per its help centre, marketed for couples, families and roommates.
PlatformsAn installable web app on iOS, Android and desktop, which works offline.Native iOS and Android apps plus a web app. Its pricing page notes budgets are coming to web soon.
Free planPermanent and no card, but capped: 120 wallet transactions, 3 accounts, 10 categories, and budgeting is read-only.Basic is free: one cash wallet, one budget, import and export (the last 365 days). Whether bank sync is free is unclear on its own pages: the pricing page says yes, the help centre says paid.
PricingTurbo Pro is €6.66/mo billed yearly at €79.90, or €7.99/mo, and carries both sides. If budgeting is all you want from us, you do not have to buy the portfolio tracker with it: Spending Pro is €2.99 a month billed yearly at €35.90, and it leaves the investing side exactly at free-plan depth.Plus $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year; Premium $5.99 or $35.99, in dollars, and may differ by country. Sold through the app stores, which also offer a one-time Lifetime Premium.
Where they agree
Budgets by categoryEnvelope budgeting: money assigned per category each month, unspent amounts rolling over, overspending coming out of next month’s pool.Smart budgets per category that show how much you can spend each day, with alerts at 75% and 90%, per its help centre. One budget on the free plan, unlimited on paid.
EU footingMade in Bucharest, Romania. Your data is stored and processed in the EU, in Frankfurt.Prague, Czech Republic. Its privacy policy says its database servers are in the EU (Belgium) and in the USA.
Import and exportCSV and XLSX import with duplicate detection, Excel export on every plan.Import (CSV, XLS, XLSX) through the web app; export (CSV, XLS) from the mobile app. The free plan exports the last 365 days.

Spendee details are from its own site, pricing, bank-connect and security pages, help centre, terms of use and privacy policy, as checked in September 2026. Where this table says no, it rests on what those pages state rather than on their silence. The Turbobulls column describes Turbo Pro, the plan that carries both sides. Everything in the Spendee column comes from its own pages, read in September 2026, and every negative rests on what those pages say; they are listed in the footer. Prices are in different currencies and move with the exchange rate, so this page does not claim a percentage. Its pricing page shows the same feature list for Plus and Premium; its help centre says Plus adds unlimited wallets, unlimited budgets and shared wallets, and Premium adds bank, e-wallet and crypto-wallet connections, automatic import and categorisation, and the AI receipt scanner. Spendee may have changed since; its own pages are the authoritative source.

The long version

Everything behind the table, one topic at a time.

A spending tracker, and a tracker that also budgets

Spendee, operated by SPENDEE a.s. of Prague, is built around everyday spending. Per its site, you connect your accounts and transactions arrive and categorise themselves, budgets show how much you can spend each day and notify you at 75% and 90%, and shared wallets let a couple or a household run the same money together. It is mobile-first and it is inexpensive.

Turbobulls is a portfolio tracker that also budgets in envelopes, encrypted on your device so the server cannot read either half. Holdings, cost basis, dividends and returns sit in the same account as spending, salary, debt and cash, and net worth is reported across all of it.

If you are choosing a tool purely to track spending, Spendee costs less and takes the work out of getting the data in, and that is a strong case. This page exists for the narrower one: you also hold investments, and you would rather not keep them in a second product on a server that can read them. Everything Turbobulls gives up, the bank connections included, is the price of that one decision.

Where each one is weaker

On tracking spending, most of the weakness on this page is ours.
Turbobulls
  • No bank connections at all, against the 2500+ providers Spendee states it connects to
  • Every import is a file you export and upload yourself, once a month rather than continuously
  • Only a handful of banks and brokers have a dedicated adapter; anything else means mapping the columns once
  • Turbo Pro costs substantially more than Spendee for anyone who only wants budgeting
  • Our free plan does less budgeting than Spendee’s free plan
  • No shared wallets for couples or households
  • An installable web app rather than native mobile apps
Spendee, per its public materials
  • No portfolio or investment tracking, cost basis or net worth across holdings described on its product pages or help centre
  • Free-plan export covers the last 365 days, and export sits in the mobile app while import sits in the web app, per its help centre
  • Budgets are noted as coming to web soon, so the web app trails the phone
  • Encryption in transit and at rest with access for authorized users, per its security page; no end-to-end encryption or user-held key described

Read from Spendee’s own site, pricing, bank-connect and security pages, help centre, terms of use and privacy policy in September 2026. A feature absent from a page is not the same as absent from the product, and this list says only what those pages describe.

What it costs

This is the section where we are the expensive option, and there is no way to present it otherwise. Both have a free tier, so the question is what paying buys.
Turbobulls
Spending Pro x
€2.99per month for Spending Pro x, billed yearly at €35.90

Or €3.54 a month billed monthly. Annual billing is two months free. Cancel anytime. That is the spending side bought on its own.

  • Unlimited accounts, spending entries and categories, with envelope budgeting you can actually edit
  • The investing side stays exactly at free-plan depth, never less. Paying for one side never takes the other away
  • Turbo Pro at €6.66 a month billed yearly at €79.90 opens both sides, portfolio tracker included
  • Encryption and export on every plan, free included
The free plan you land on
No time limit, no card, nothing deleted. Budgeting is read-only and the wallet caps at 120 transactions, 3 accounts and 10 categories, so as a budgeting tool alone it is smaller than Spendee’s free tier.
Start the 14-day trial

No card, and nothing to cancel if you stay on free.

Spendee
Cheaper
$1.99a month for Plus, or $14.99 a year, as shown on its pricing page

Premium is $5.99 a month or $35.99 a year. Both carry a 7-day trial with payment details taken up front. In dollars as shown in September 2026; the pricing page notes prices may differ by country, and both are sold through the App Store and Google Play.

  • Basic is free, with one cash wallet, one budget, and export of the last 365 days
  • Bank sync is listed under Basic on its pricing page and called a paid feature in its help centre
  • Plus adds unlimited wallets and budgets, and shared wallets
  • Premium adds bank, e-wallet and crypto-wallet connections and the AI receipt scanner, per its help centre; a one-time Lifetime Premium is sold in the app stores
Prices are set by Spendee and can change. Its own pricing page is the authoritative source.

The two are quoted in different currencies and move with the exchange rate, so this page puts no percentage on the gap. The honest summary is that Spendee’s paid plans cost a fraction of Turbo Pro and, on the plan with bank connections, your spending arrives on its own. What the difference buys is a portfolio tracker in the same account, and end-to-end encryption around both halves, so what our database holds is ciphertext rather than your finances. If neither of those is worth paying for, buy the cheaper thing.
